Week in Review

Each day has been graced with visits from family or friends. As much as we have enjoyed these times, I think we will have to limit them even more in the week to come. Michael has precious little energy at this point.

His appetite is decreasing. I've noticed that he will still eat a good portion for breakfast, but for lunch and dinner he eats much less than he did even a week ago.

Michael is very weak. It is getting more difficult for him to walk around the house. I help him out of bed and up off the couch. His legs are just so weak.

When he was taking pain medication after Tuesday's procedure, he was able to sleep fairly well. Oxycodone made him very drowsy. Now that he's off the narcotic, he is having a more difficult time sleeping. Doesn't seem fair that someone who's so tired shouldn't be able to sleep. Cancer really sucks.

We're fighting our fatigue and discouragement with, what else, faith in the Lord. Michael went to bed early last night, and I watched more of Pastor Bayless' teaching about healing on DVD. Pastor Bayless is so right about the power of the Word. We started our day today with a reading from Romans 4:16-21, and now we're enjoying music from the Fernando Ortega radio station on Pandora. Michael used to play with Fernando at South Coast Community Church where we met way back when. Fernando's songs and hymns are so soothing and comforting. The rain clouds have departed, the birds are singing, and we are hoping for a good day.

You both are in my thoughts and prayers. I agree with you - it is wrong that someone so tired can not sleep. Praying you both get a good, peaceful rest! And that your day is a relaxing one as you listen to Fernando - I love his music as well!

So glad to hear the rain clouds have departed and the birds are singing - we are praying for a good day for you and Michael! Praying for God's peace beyond understanding and His comforting arms to wrap around the two of you! Know that you know that you know - you are loved and cared for by a Loving God! Sending you much love and lots of hugs!

Set your limits, ones that work for both of you and stick to them. People often don't realise just how tiring their presence can be. Being a wonderful caring wife isn't rude!
Take care of yourself too. This is as much about you as it is about your husband.
As always, hugs and positive thoughts.

have his doctor get him something for sleep joannah and a refill on the pain meds. he may need them at some point anyway. but being robbed of good sleep isn't necessary. there are things that can help. is there a hospice nurse seeing you?

i'm so glad you two are really in this together. never forget that yelling is a form of prayer too. god wants all of us.

much love to you both.
