Towels, Lights, and Doors

My sweet husband refuses to fold his towels after using them. He claims they will not dry if they are not draped across the towel rack. It makes me crazy.

I asked him if we could compromise and he could at least fold the hand towel after using it. He agreed, but then he passively-aggressively doesn't do it. I think the bathroom looks messy like this. I think towels should be folded after use. Like this:

Mine always seems dry the next day when I go to use it!

He also has the terrible habit of leaving lights on in rooms he's left. In addition to the bathroom lights, he leaves this one on all the time. I'm constantly turning lights off behind him and asking him if he owns stock in the electric company.

Lastly, he rarely closes the kitchen door or the patio room door all the way. With it being so cold lately, this lets in a draft.

Sigh...

Ladies, what's a new wife to do?

LOL - I guess I would say: Pick your battles, but I do know what you mean! My biggest pet peeve is the fact my DH leaves his dishes in the sink instead of the dishwasher. It drives me insane...

You crack me up! IF I ever get married (!) I will INSIST on separate households for reasons such as these! =)

Well, we have a 50/50 split. We both put the towels after showering the way your husband does. We feel they dry quicker too. As far as the lights, we are in the turn them off when you leave the room/hallway. I agree with Sandra, my DH leaves plates/glasses in the sink and I just don't see how much more trouble it could be to just put them in the dishwasher. I do say things NICELY when he does things that bug me, because I think if left unsaid it may turn in to a big fight later on. :0

Sadly, I have no advice for you. Been with my hubby seventeen years and he does all of those things. Occasionally we will sit down and have a talk and he will promise to try harder. For a little while. Sigh.

That was funny! 14 yrs. ago I complained about those same things...now I ignore it. Like Sandra said, pick your battles. Life is to short.

**Love your wedding photos below. Esp. the one where he is dipping you. So sweet.

LOL - LOL - and a little more LOL!
Well, I would love to say that I kiss him sweetly and whisper in his ear and it magical makes everything happen - if only :D Dan biggest thing is laundry. He takes it off and throws it on the floor. THEN, when I would say something about it, he would grumble that he does put his laundry in the hamper. One girlfriend suggested kicking his clothes under the bed and then when I did laundry, to just leave his clothes under the bed. Do you know what he did - when he ran out of underpants - he went and bought more and then complained to me that all his underware had disapeared! LOL! Just know that I feel your pain!

Never sweat the small stuff, love his imperfections, take a deep breath, and smile when you look at you messy bathroom :O)

I too have to have my towel open or it doesn't seem to dry- my sister? She washes hers EVERYday. Yes, EVERYday. OCD I swear.

LOL girl! Welcome to the club! Like others have said, "pick your battles". My Mike leaves his tools outside or even inside after he's done some work. They stay there for days!! He also LOVES to use household stuff for some of his tools. IE: Kitchen knives for screwdrivers, dinning room chairs for ladders even when painting, and my favorite, my kitchen & bath towels to clean up his "work messes" with!!!! ARGH!

Hang in there....

Hee hee. Here we go.

Nothing I can say that the others haven't said.

Just pick your battles, sister. And try not to let his quirks drive you nuts.

Interesting...I'm OCD I guess because I wash mine every day. Scott, however, doesn't and hangs his on a hook and I don't mind that.

I agree, pick your battles however maybe you could get rid of the towel bar and use hooks instead? That way it's just one towel hanging?

I loathe hand towels for that reason. I just recently threw them away I was so sick of the unfolded towels. It felt SO good. We have a box of wash cloths (nice ones) sitting near the sink (easy to fold, easy to throw in the wash every day--->see OCD)---I like those so much better.

For the light, maybe change it to where it turns on when you walk in the room and off after 2 minutes (or whatever). My FIL has one in his storage room that works that way.

OK--just to be clear, I don't wash them every day but I put them in the wash every day. I wash them 2-3 times a week but I use a fresh towel every day. Had to clear that up. :)
