Away for the Weekend

We left Southern California on Thursday afternoon and headed north. Our first stop was in Los Osos, which is near Morro Bay. There we stayed the night with the lovely and hospitable Penny and Ted and their four little ones. They have an incredible and brand new guest house and we were just their second guest to inhabit it. It had the most incredible view of Morro Bay from its perch atop the hill at the back of their property. I wish we could have stayed longer and enjoyed that view more.

Then yesterday we drove up PCH from Morro Bay to Carmel-by-the-Sea. Michael was feeling really good yesterday, and so he did all of the driving the first part of the day. The weather is unseasonably warm, and so we were treated to almost unlimited views of the coastline and the vast ocean. Early in the day we saw a few seals sunbathing near San Simeon, the zebras of Hearst Castle, and a coyote hunting some pheasants. Once we arrived in Carmel, we met up with an old friend of Michael's and enjoyed a brief visit together. I wish we had more time to spend in Carmel. It's been years since I've been there. We're going to have to return sometime soon.

It was a fairly short drive to get to our final destination of Cupertino. We are here to attend a wedding this evening in Saratoga at the Mountain Winery. The daughter of Michael's good friend (and the bestman in our wedding) is getting married there this evening. Michael is playing guitar in the wedding. It should be a lovely evening for a wedding.

Tomorrow we have to make the drive home in one day, as Tata's funeral will take place on Monday afternoon. I am thoroughly enjoying the time away from home. There is just something about a road trip that does me good.

As for my last post, that capped off a few days of frustration with the love of my life. He finally heeded my advice, and is making an effort to take better care of himself. The reward seems to be a bit more energy and the ability to enjoy this weekend. We are enjoying our time together. I wish our trip was longer, but we will be returning to the Central Coast in a few short weeks to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I can't wait!

I'm glad you're able to make the trip. Yes, the weather this weekend is magnificent, you couldn't ask for better. I hope you both have a wonderful time! Please give Micheal my regards and best wishes for a BIG appetite for Ensure. It goes well in oatmeal! (I discovered this when I made it for my grandmother!)

the music on your blog is a nice touch. Do you think you could include Michael's guitar playing?
