Cancellations can be reinstated. You are taking a horrid detour but as always you are showing such grace. Don't be hard on yourself with regards to coping with it all as there are no guidelines for this and you have every right to be feeling the way you feel. You have an army behind you pushing you onwards and upwards....just know we are here.
I'm so sorry that you & Michael are having to deal with this... cancer really is straight from the pits of hell. Waiting for test results is the worst part, I think -- not knowing sucks.
And you mentioned that you're "going to have to get better at coping with it." There is no "right" way to cope... I really believe that. Message boards & online support groups really help, especially when you find out exactly what kind of cancer you're fighting (my mom had a rare form of breast cancer, which made it hard for us to find info anywhere EXCEPT the internet).
I'm sorry this comment is so long... I just wanted to let you know that my heart goes out to both of you, and, as the ladies on my breast cancer boards always said, "FISTS UP!" :) Sarah
Hi Joannah, I just now read back about everything that has happened (blogger is blocked here, but I found a backdoor today). I am so sorry. You know I have walked right where you all are right now and have walked away completely healed and unscathed. At some point maybe you or Michael may want to listen to my story again. Although we honor the help of doctors what they say is not the deciding factor, it's what God decides to do. You need an army of prayer warriors surrounding you. By all means get a second opinion from the Mayo clinic. I will try to send you some other info via email. My heart is with you all and I really encourage you to fight spiritually and that you all take the lead and responsibility in all decisions made, rather than relying on any information that is given to you initially. There is a lot to know about biopsies, pathology reports, etc. Praying for God's guidance for you both as you walk through this.
You continue to be in my thoughts all the time. I wanted to let you know...to tell you...that it is perfectly ok to feel a bit sorry for *yourself* these days. I'm sure you feel you can't do that with all that Michael is facing, but I am here to tell you it's alright to grieve for the summer you were hoping for.
Sending up lots of prayers for you both...stay strong, keep fighting, keep praying, and believe that healing is possible.
I agree with all of your wonderful commenters--there is no one right way through this, you will simply get through it Joannah, one moment at a time. I cannot imagine where you are and how you feel, I cannot and hope I never can. But I do know this-- you are resilient and strong and brave and tender, you and Michael have immense love for one another, and you have such strong faith and a strong community of people who love you in real life and so many of us behind you here on the internet. I hate that you are experiencing this, and hope beyond hope that you will be beyond it soon.
Please seek out stories that strengthen you-- With love, Kate
We all know life can change in an instant, and mine has. I was enjoying my life as a newlywed, savoring every day with my wonderful husband, and trying to overcome infertility when we learned in May of 2009 that he has kidney cancer. Now, our focus is on his health. Through our struggles with infertility my faith in Christ grew, and now I can face this new challenge knowing that we are in His hands.
