Resurrection Sunday

I just returned from an incredible Easter service at Cottonwood Church. The auditorium was packed, standing room only - and it's a big place. The opening included two dancers descending from the rafters in large swaths of fabric - very Cirque du Soleil. The story of Christ and the redemption only He offers us was portrayed with beautiful music, drama, and dance. The song above was one of the worship pieces, and it's a new favorite for me.

Tomorrow, take a moment and consider the real reason Easter is on our calendar every year. It's not because of an oversized bunny, chocolate eggs, Honey Baked Ham, a new spring dress, or any of that wonderfully fun stuff. It's because God wanted to make a way for us to be reconciled to Him. He sent His only Son to our world to become like us and live a blameless life here amongst us. He was betrayed, condemned, and sentenced to die. Since He was human, He did die on the cross. But, since He was also fully God, He rose from the dead, thereby defeating death. In doing so, all we have to do is acknowledge who He is, and claim Him as our personal savior. In that transaction, we are forgiven for all the ways we fall short of His perfection, and we are guaranteed eternal life with Him. It's so simple, but most people let their pride get in the way of realizing their need for a relationship with Him.

It's my prayer that you will be moved this Easter to believe that Jesus was, and is, who He said He was. He's alive, and He's waiting to give you a new life in Him.

May God richly bless you!
