Sunday Morning

The house is very quiet this morning because Michael got up early to go play a church gig. He hasn't had a church gig in months, but this new one could become a regular thing. That would be really nice. It's nearby and he'd be working for a really nice director - someone we've both known for a long time. She's trying to see if her budget is large enough to include Michael in the band. Let's hope so!

Yesterday was cycle day one! Needless to say, the roses didn't get pruned. I was low-energy and it was a bit drizzly outside. Maybe today...

Anyway, I can now start counting days on the calendar, and I believe we'll be able to start IVF the third week of February. If all goes well, we'll be able to do the egg retrieval before Michael leaves for Florida on the fifth of March.

It doesn't look like I'll be making it to church this morning - not feeling my best - but I am really excited about attending church once again. I'd been attending a church off and on for several years. I love the music there and the pastor's communication style, but there was just something missing for me. I've been listening to pastors at various churches for the last twenty years preach the life-application thing, and I'm done with that. I get it! I understand the Biblical principles that should shape my relationships, my finances, my work ethics, etc. Now, I'm seeking a deeper understanding of the Bible, and I think I've found the church and the pastor to help me out with that.

So, my new place of worship is Cottonwood Church. I've attended a couple of times recently, and there's just something different about their services.  All I can say is that it's just a lot deeper than my previous church experiences, and more intellectually challenging for me. If you want to see what I mean, you can catch Answers with Bayless Conley - he's not your typical television evangelist. Not at all. And it's not that there isn't any life application to what he preaches, it's just that he does more than build a whole sermon around one Bible verse. It's refreshing.

If there's anything good about my infertility experience, it has to be the positive impact it's had on my spirituality. Guess I needed something major like infertility to refocus my attention on what really matters.

Oh, I know what you mean about church! I have been so frustrated for the same reasons. I hope I can find what you have!

A church home is crucial to me, so I totally understand why you're excited about finding one. I'm excited for you!

I seriously think we're going to be on the same IVF schedule...give or take a day. :) Yay!

I hope you have a great week, girl.

Glad you can finally get things rolling. One of the worst things about this process is the waiting. Hope you can get to your roses soon.

Great post - TOTALLY know what you mean out here in mega-church land.
We finally found a church that we like. My husband LOVES it and that is really what matters to me these days as he is REALLY stepping into his role as our family leader.
BTW, how does this go for you guys with hubby giggin at church? He is not a believer right? Or am I wrong - sorry if I'm wrong. Gonna check your links here after i am done listening to Laura.
