A Dog Day in November

Knowing that the rest of the week is predicted to be rainy, we decided that Buffy should have a day out yesterday. We loaded her into the Labrador Mobile (Michael's old jalopy), and headed down to the dog park in Huntington Beach at Central Park. They've got a huge plot of land divided into two parks - one for big dogs, and another for little dogs. When we entered the park, she was greeted by several other friendly dogs, but once she realized that we had a tennis ball with us, she was no longer interested in the other dogs. She fetched the ball rather obsessively for quite a while, and wouldn't stop playing to take a drink of water. Her tongue and her face were covered with dirt. She was quite a sight!

After she was tuckered out, we drove back up to Long Beach and went straight to Tidy Dog for a bath. That's the thing about going to the dog park or the dog beach - it has to be followed up with a bath, or she can't come in the house. So, Daddy bathed her and she came home smelling like a rose and looking like a beauty queen. Mommy washed her bedding, and then Buffy settled down. She was so tired from her day out!

We have a couple more dog days planned for the next couple of months. We'd like to take her with us on a day trip to the mountains to see the snow, and we want to do some hiking with her, too. I'll take my camera from now on and try to capture her exuberance!

Oh, Diesel loves the dog park. :) The life of a dog...sounds like yours is spoiled rotten just like ours.

Hope you and Michael have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
