Cancer Fighting in the Kitchen

My sweet sister found this great cookbook for us! She came up to the house on Saturday and we poured through it and a couple of others to find some recipes for the week. Then today, Michael and I went down to my sister's - he to relax - and me to cook with Julie. The night before she had roasted a chicken and made some Magic Mineral Broth, and those two ingredients went a long way for us today. We prepared a Greek-style chicken soup with orzo pasta, a chicken and rice dish, macaroni and cheese, two types of muffins - pumpkin and zucchini, and the dressing for a mango, jicama, and cucumber salad that I will put together in a day or two. It was a lot of work, but it was enjoyable doing it together.

Last week my sister made a decision that really blessed and will bless us. She decided to take a sabbatical from her part-time teaching position so that she would be more available to help me with Michael and to help our mom with our grandmother. I cannot tell you how grateful I am to her. I was not in the position to do something like that, but she was. She has such a big heart.

Tomorrow is the last day of meetings and preparations before school begins on Wednesday. Here's hoping it will be a great year in spite of everything.

Julie and Joannah...awww!! Aren't sisters the best? I love cooking with my sister. I also love anything w/orzo pasta...yum! You girls made A LOT of food...what a wonderful idea. And what a wonderful sister to take off from her job to help take care of you guys.

Praying for you this week, as you start back to school.

Good going! On top of eating all that good stuff, avoid acetometaphen (tylenol), it effects antioxidents by eliminating them or preventing them from forming.

That is wonderful! I'm so pleased that you will have some additional support! What a blessing!

I was just given a book about preventing cancer through eating (and what to eat during treatment) I too am looking at it all! I'll let you know if I read anything of interest!
