We call our medical group every morning to check on the status. This morning we were told that the medical director has reviewed it, but is now sending an "ad hoc" letter to our original oncologist for more information. I'm sure Dr. M will give the request a thumbs up, but I am so frustrated that this is taking so long. After all, this is just for a consultation. Then there will be another request/referral process to have the HDIL-2 treatment approved by our medical group. Hopefully, that will not take this long!
On September 1st, the first day of open enrollment, I can put in our request to change medical groups. Come October 1st, it will be effective, and then all this back-and-forth between the medical groups will be a thing of the past.
Please pray that our request will be granted very soon, and that we will be able to see Dr. K next week.
Thank you.

Ugh. Don't you just abhor all of the hoops we have to jump through to get the care we need?
I'm sure that everything will work itself out. Many good thoughts to you.

I had forgotten how difficult it can be to get just basic medical care with an HMO. I'm so glad you are able to switch to the PPO. I wish it was effective immediately!
Sending positive thoughts....and that Oct. 1 gets here FAST!
