Mid-week Update

Today was Teacher Appreciation Day at my school. My students have been bringing me flowers, treats, and school supplies since Monday. I got some really nice things today, and the PTO hosted a luncheon for us after school. I like Teacher Appreciation Week!

My husband watches a lot of basketball...

I'm seeing an acupuncturist tomorrow afternoon. I'm ready to try this alternative approach to increase my chances of becoming pregnant. I've never done acupuncture before, but a friend recommended it, so I thought I'd check it out.

Michael leaves for another tour tomorrow morning. He won't be gone too long, but I don't think I've ovulated yet, so there goes another month. Oh, well... There's nothing I can do about it, so I'm not going to stress out. After this tour, we expect that he'll be home for two months. And, next month, he'll have his first "analysis" since his procedure and that will give us an idea of whether his fertility has increased. We're hoping for good numbers!

Is it Friday yet?

One more thing...

Why do people say the things they do? I'm sure I've put my foot in my mouth before, so I'm including myself in this generalization. What makes me ask is that my husband's dental hygienist said something really dumb yesterday. She told him that she knows someone who knows... And that, no offense, but autism is caused by old sperm. Regardless of whether or not there's any validity to what she said, why do people have to say things like that to (ahem, older) people who are trying to get pregnant? We talked about it, and I don't think he took it too seriously. Thank goodness!

I am president of our PTA and in charge of teacher ( we call it staff) appreciation week. Our goal is to do a small gift for the teachers every day. Do you mind sharing what gifts you truly appreciate and put to good use?

On TTC this month. I would still go for it. The sperm has been known to hang out for up to 5 days waiting for that special egg. Do the baby dance right before he leave and hope his fellas hang around.

My TTC days are far behind but if I had it to do over I would have done a few less IUIs and put the money into a more holistic approach.

I wish they had teacher appreciation week here.

I tried acupuncture and really enjoyed it. Contrary to what some people may think, it is on of the most relaxing experiences I have ever had.

You know I'm rooting for you!

Accupuncture rocks! I can't speak to its effectiveness with regard to fertility, but it did wonders for my back pain and the osteoarthritis in my foot. Hope it does the same for your needs!

Happy appreciation week! You so deserve it! A few years ago we re-did the staff lounge for our staff, it was SOOOOO much fun to do for them.

Enjoy the week!

fuzzandfuzzlet,

My room mom asked me for a list of donations that I would most appreciate. That was the best way to get what I really needed. So, I asked for copy paper, post-it notes, pencils, white board markets, etc. I also asked for cleaning supplies and facial tissue. We have Open House next week, and I will need to do a big cleaning with my students prior to that. The cleaning supplies will come in handy and I won't have had to pay for them! Oh, I even got a couple of DVDs that are appropriate for showing in class on rainy days.

One of the moms went beyond the list I had given and she included a bottle of wine, some Neutrogena products, dish towels, a plastic serving tray, and some reusable grocery bags. It was kind of a hodge-podge of stuff, but I really liked her choices. She's a sweetheart, too.

Thanks for your encouragement on TTC. We will definitely give it a shot before he leaves. Who knows?

I can attest to the "little guys" hanging around for 5 days. That's how we conceived our 2nd DD, when my DH traveled.

Good luck.

Our Teacher Appreciation was last week, my DD had to buy her teacher a lovely little African Violet plant. Her teacher loved it. It was very deserving, she is fantastic!

I agree, good idea with the acupuncure (sp?), that is weird that the hygenist would say that. Very rude. I think its odd how people always comment on what Ethnicity Hannah is. Its like, this is not a puppy, its my daughter. It just never ceases to amaze me the unthoughtful things people say.

We tried for three years to conceive with no success. I remember some of the things that people would say to me. Then it seemed to be even weirder when we told people we were going to adopt. I don't think that people think about what they are going to say first.

People sometimes just aren't comfortable with other's struggles in life. It does come from a heart wanting to help, they just don't realize the depth of the pain. This journey has taught me not to say I understand and try to fix other people's issues. I say now I seek comfort, not cheering up.
